Let's slow down!
Updated: Apr 21
Hi, my name's Maya. I recently joined the team here at 'Calm during COVID-19'.
Right now, what you’re probably seeing all over your social media are tips to make quarantine as productive as possible. Over the last few weeks you've probably found out how insanely talented everyone you follow is. I mean, by the looks of it, any of them could be personal trainers or go on Masterchef. But I think you deserve to slow down for a bit. Yes, being productive is great, and if keeping yourself busy is helping you cope, then that’s awesome.
But let’s all remember that this isn’t really a regular situation. It isn’t a few days off school, or summer vacation- we’re going through a global pandemic. Remember that it’s okay to not feel or do your best these days. Your worth isn’t defined by how much you accomplish during this quarantine.
Instead, I think it’s a good idea to analyse how you’re feeling. Let’s be real, you probably
won’t have this much time alone with your thoughts ever again. Use it to figure out the way you think or what kind of person you are. Soul search. Activities like journalling (a journal kept during quarantine would be so fun to look at later!), meditation, doing a skincare routine, dancing by yourself in your room or even just crying (crying is therapy!) can really help.
Many times, we limit ourselves to only a few basic emotions, which may not actually indicate how we really feel. Using something like this wheel might help you identify what you're feeling in a deeper way
This is a survey I created to analyse how high school students in particular have been impacted by COVID-19. I'd really appreciate it if you could take it:)
