Personalise Your Exercise!

Happy Monday!!


I wanted to discuss the idea of this ideal exercise regime that exists all over social media. See, exercise does not mean doing high-intensity workouts or burning thousands of calories a day. It does not mean going for 5k runs either. It can mean whatever you want, it's yours :) It can mean a high-intensity workout or it could mean stretching, meditation, or walking. As long as you are taking care of yourself and paying attention to your body, it's all good (look at the image attached!).



With that in mind, I'd like to reflect on my personal experiences. Usually, I love doing core workouts and exercising my legs at the gym. However, under lockdown, with gyms being shut, I started walking. And, honestly, it surprised me, walking with trees around me, my favorite music flowing through my earphones or even audiobooks, and just going at my own pace was extremely therapeutic. I didn't think I'd feel the same thrill with walking as I do at the gym, but it was quite close, and being able to move at my own pace and living in my own world was amazing. You can also keep walking inside your home and it can help calm anxiety. For instance, after being unable to sleep last night, I found myself walking outside my room from 4-5 am and tiring myself out until I felt sleepy and relaxed :)


Apart from walking, of course, there are plenty of other ways to exercise !! You can follow Youtube workouts or create your own or do some stretches with Yoga (trust me, it is not as easy as it may appear at times) and even running if you fancy it. Just make sure you try to stay fit!
